Telling people you are losing weight in my case, people will say oh you can eat it, just try it and a lot of people don't like taking no for an answer, I try to stay away from parties and potlucks because if I don't I feel like I have to wind up eating what I don't want so people don't say things like you don't like me, you won't make me happy just this once, I wish I did know how to confront people.
@ Belinda: Make sure you're feeling confident. If people try to persuade you to eat things you don't want, tell them how you feel, that you need their support, that it's hard enough to fight the urge to eat and that you don't want to have to fight them too. Let them know it's not a game! And if they still try to make you eat, they are not worthy of your company.
Good luck.
I'm only 20 and in fairly good shape so anytime I have told people that I was dieting I get the constant attack of "You look great already!" or "You're not FAT!". People don't realize that sometimes you don't diet just for the weight loss but because you want to be healthier. I may not be an unhealthy weight but if I continue to eat ungodly amounts of pasta and sweets etc. someday it's going to catch up to me. I just decided that it's easier to keep it to myself.
